Bokor Hill Station is a mountain resort that was started by the French in the 1920s. It was once a very popular place, especially in the 1960s, but it fell into ruin after being taken over by the Khmer Rouge. Recently, however, it has been revitalized with a new casino being built in 2012. This guided scooter tour will take you to see some of the abandoned buildings, including two royal palaces, and learn about Bokor’s fascinating and tragic history. You’ll enjoy incredible views as you cruise up Bokor Mountain on your scooter, and learn all about this unique place – from its revered past to its modern rebirth.

We’ll start our journey by driving the scooter up to the hill. On the way, we’ll stop at a parking space where you can see a breathtaking view of Kampot town. You’ll learn more about Kampot’s geography with its gorgeous river connected from town to the sea.

Stop 2: Black palace

Then we get back on a scooter heading up and will stop at the Black Palace which was built in 1936 facing the Yeay Mao statue. We also see the old restaurant behind that and other abandoned buildings nearby.

Stop 3: Wat Sampov Pram

A visit to the old Buddhist temple which was built in 1920, a very beautiful religious building. Your guild will tell you about Buddhism and see the fabulous scenery behind the temple. It is just about an amazing view from the cliff to the lowland.

Stop 4: Catholic Church

After learning about the state religion of Cambodia, then we will see the Catholic Church which was built in the same period of time as the Buddhist temple.

Stop 5: Old Casino ( Reused as the hotel now)

Well-known as an abandoned casino, unfortunately, it is reused to be a hotel nowadays. So we just make a very short stop there, then we will see the other buildings like the Annex hotel which was built in 1962 and the abandoned royal palace, the cliff behind.
