Rithy or (T)
Senior Guide, Kampot
Hello everyone! My name is Rithy or (T). I come from Pursat province which is in the northwest of Cambodia. My family is very poor and cannot give me enough financial support to support my study, so I decided to become a monk for 3 years to learn English. After I left Pagoda I came to Butterfly Tours to start my guiding job. My English wasn’t good at all, but I keep practicing everyday with tourists and now I have become the popular tour guide at Butterfly Tour as you can find on TripAdvisor or Google Review. So I am very thankful to Butterfly Tours that gave me a new life and now I am always welcome to see everyone in Kampot. Thank you.

Rie Oun
Lead Guide, Siem Reap
Hello everyone! Welcome to Cambodia. My name is Rie Oun and I am a trainee tour guide with Butterfly Tours. I was born at Kulen mountain, which is famous for its waterfall, in Siem Reap – which used to be the capital city of the Khmer empire. When I have spare time from work, I enjoy visiting temples such as Angkor Wat and other temples around Cambodia.I am a friendly person and I love practicing English with foreigners from all around the world. I have been practicing my English skills since I was young – ever since I lived in a pagoda as a temple boy. My parents are very old now and they continue to work very hard in the fields to earn a living. This is one of the reasons why I love my job as a tour guide so much; it allows me to live a better life and also help my parents financially.I am always curious about learning new things and improving my abilities every day. This job gives me the opportunity to learn about different cultures while also helping others learn about mine. I truly enjoy being a tour guide and hope to continue doing this job for many years to come!

Kompheak
Lead Guide, Kampot
Hello everyone, my name is Hann Kompheak, but you can call me Pheak. I live in Kampot province, which is a beautiful area in Cambodia. My parents are farmers, so I grew up helping them out on the farm. I had to quit school after 9th grade because my parents couldn’t afford to keep paying for my education, but I was lucky enough to be able to learn English at a private school for 3 years. After that, I got a job working at a tourist destination for 2 years, where I learned even more English. Now I work as a tour guide with Butterfly Tours, and I really enjoy it. It’s great being able to share my culture and history with visitors from all over the world.

Soriya
Front Office and Operation Assistant
Hi everyone! My name is Soriya and I’m from Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. I moved with my parents to Siem Reap province in 2010, and that’s where I call home now🤗. Recently, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management; it was tough as I had to study and work simultaneously to support myself. A year ago, I started working as a Receptionist at a hotel – this gave me experience of interacting with different nationalities. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic led to the hotel shutting down, which was really hard for me. Nonetheless, I kept telling myself “No pain no gain” and moved on with life. Nowadays, I’m part of the Butterfly team which allows me to be back in my favorite field – tourism! We would be more than happy if you visited us and enjoyed the local experiences we offer. Thank you!

Phorm Sarom
Lead Guide, Siem Reap
Hello! My name is Phorm Sarom and I am 33 years old. I come from Siem Reap, Cambodia and I am currently a tour guest training with the BUTTERFLY TOUR Company. My parents are farmers and we are a poor family. After I completed grade 12, I became a volunteer at the Self Help Community Center NGO (SHCC). I spent four years working hard without a salary, quickly learning and doing my best to help my community by providing free education to families who couldn’t afford to pay for school.I love speaking English with my friends (in a funny way) and going to visit dry fields after harvest season or when rice planting season is in full swing. The fresh air is invigorating! This is a good opportunity for me to improve my English and earn some guiding fees to support my family. My dream is to become a young entrepreneur that can create more job opportunities for young Cambodian students.
